This is the second of an eight week short information program that is intended to keep people in the mineral processing sector up to date with the developments at Gekko Systems.

This week's topic:

Pre-concentration for gold plants using gravity and flotation

WHY PRE-CONCENTRATE?

  • Low environmental impact – Fast permitting
  • Small footprint
  • Modular - Ideal for remote locations
  • Low operating cost
  • Low capital cost
  • High recoveries for sulphide associated / complex gold ores

Gekko Systems specialises in designing and building pre-concentration plants for the gold sector. At Gekko we call these plants ‘GFIL’ or Gravity Flotation Intensive Leach. Our company has recently designed and installed a Gravity/Intensive Leach circuit for Lihir Mining at their Ballarat Goldfields site. Recoveries, availability and operating costs are excellent. Gekko is also currently commissioning a GFIL plant for Minera Santa Cruz in Southern Argentina.

GFIL flow sheets are popular with small to mid-sized deposits and offer significant reductions in capital and infrastructure set-up costs. This flow sheet also has application to other minerals such as silver, nickel sulphide and other base metals.
