From Bruce A. Moyer, Technical Program Chair, ISEC 2008:

The deadline is approaching for abstracts for the International Solvent Extraction Conference, ISEC 2008, to be held in Tucson, Arizona, September 15-19, 2008. We cordially invite you to contribute an abstract by August 30, 2007. Papers for the proceedings volume are due Nov. 1, 2007.

The ISEC series, held every three years, is the premier forum for advances in the field of solvent extraction. A comprehensive program is planned, covering fundamentals; novel reagents, materials, and techniques; nuclear fuel reprocessing; hydrometallurgy and metals extraction; analytical and preparative applications; biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, life-science products, and organic products; process chemistry and engineering; and petrochemical applications.

Information concerning the conference may be viewed on the ISEC website at The website also provides the electronic form needed for submitting abstracts.

We are happy to announce the following plenary lecturers:

  • Gary Kordosky (Cognis) Hydrometallurgical process chemistry and engineering
  • Bernard Boullis (CEA) Nuclear fuel reprocessing
  • Hans-Jörg Bart (Technische Universität Kaiserslautern) Design and simulation of advanced contactors

Also, an exciting development is the initiation of plans to add a two-day short course to precede the conference. This addition should increase the attractiveness of the conference to students and newcomers to the field.

We look forward to your abstract submission and in making ISEC 2008 another memorable meeting.
