Every so often a new company lists on InfoMine as a consultant. I generally examine the websites of these new listers. Here is one that caught my attention. Liberty Mining Consultants, Inc describes their background thus:

Five generations of experience in coal mine operations, mine management, mine planning, and equipment maintenance.

  • from Pontypridd, Wales......
  • to Pennsylvania and then several other USA locations......
  • until launching worldwide mining consulting projects in 1994.

Among the many underground and surface coal mining experiences by various family members was owning and operating Liberty Mine in Fayette County, Pennsylvania during the early 1940's. To honor these previous generations and their commitment to high performance and quality work standards, we chose the name LIBERTY Mining Consultants to guide our approach to helping worldwide coal producers identify and resolve operational and production issues.

They note expertise in these two areas:

  • Continuous Improvement --- LIBERTY provides planning and training in underground mines that utilize continuous miner equipment in room-and-pillar and place-changing systems, and longwall systems. We have assisted in improving production with a company's existing equipment as well as accelerating the learning curve when a company implements new equipment.
  • Risk Assessment --- LIBERTY conducts mine site visits to assist insurance providers in determining risk exposure for workers compensation, general liability, fleet and equipment coverages. We evaluate not only underground and surface coal mines, but also underground and surface hard rock, metal and non-metal mines, plus coal preparation and mineral processing facilities.
