Some paper magazines will never die. They are the ones with high quality, thoughtful, well-written articles. Rolling Stone, The New Yorker, The Economist, Vogue are some that come readily to mind. The rest are doomed to fade and wither. Part of their problem is the competition of Blogs with their speed, immediacy, tight focus, relevance, and rapid evolution. Now my blog, I Think Mining, joins the ranks of those seeking to hasten the demise of all but the best mining magazines. You know the ones. They present fresh original well-written articles on mining technology. I don’t know any, so no links here.
The Blog starts as an extension of TechnoMine. In the Blog we present sharp opinions about things scientific, technical, and engineering related to mining. Perforce we stray into comment on social, legal, and political issues as they affect mining. But always with a rationalist’s perspective.
If you would like to become part of our TechnoMine blogging community, it is easy. Just contact me at jcaldwell@infomine.com and let’s set up a process to get you involved. Maybe you can contribute one article a year on the issues that most arrest your attention. Maybe you can contribute one article a month on a regular event in your work place. And if you really like writing and have a never-ending supply of provocative opinions, you can contribute weekly or daily. The opportunity is there and is now. Looking forward to hearing from you.
