PERTH, AUSTRALIA - Leading provider of intuitive software solutions to the mining and exploration industry, MICROMINE has been announced as "Innovator of the Year" at the 2012 Russian Mining Excellence Awards.

This award acknowledges companies who have contributed to the development and application of new technologies. Winners are determined by public online voting, as well as opinions provided by Independent Experts participating in the Awards Committee.

MICROMINE Russia was nominated in conjunction with Kinross Gold Corporation, for the joint collaboration on the Kupol Site in the Chukotka region in Russia. This was MICROMINE’s first Pitram implementation in Russia and CIS countries. Pitram is MICROMINE’s premier mine control and management reporting solution.

MICROMINE Russia Regional Manager Boris Kurtsev comments "We are really privileged to have been selected to work with Kinross Gold on such a unique and rewarding project. After examining the outcomes, it is clear that MICROMINE’s implementation of Pitram at the Kupol site was a resounding success." Mr Kurtsev continues "With the assistance of our global MICROMINE consulting team, the scope of this project became an easily achievable target."

MICROMINE’s involvement encompassed the successful development and implementation of the first live underground mine control system in CIS countries - Pitram. The solution covered a number of aspects of the project, from material movements and grade control, to monitoring of equipment states. It also assisted to facilitate the capture of all required production data, as well as centralising control over hazardous mining conditions and labour safety.
