Like the impoundments themselves, this topic is too big to cover in one paper, but let me try. First, I promise I will not describe the categories of tailings impoundments--you know: upstream and downstream and everything in between. Rather I will take you with me through the latest that we can find about tailings impoundments on the web and hopefully along some byways off the beaten track.
